If you have cracked the screen on your laptop or the screen is very dim then why not get some use of out the laptop by converting it into a desktop PC.

Almost all laptops have an external monitor connector.

Simply plug a standard CRT or TFT monitor into this connector and chances are you will be able to see a picture.

If not, look for a monitor symbol on the laptop keyboard, pressing this button (usually in combination with a function button) will tell the laptop to output the graphics to the external monitor.

If that works then you may want to consider permanently removing the monitor, this is not a quick job and will need some screwdrivers and a lot of condifence.
