Nintendo has announced it will replace any broken wrist straps for its new console, the Wii. Since its launch users across the world have reported problems with the straps attached to the motion sensitive controller worn on the players arm.

Some people have claimed that, due to enthusiastic play, the controllers have slipped out of their hands and damaged furniture including expensive television sets.

Nintendo said if the straps are used correctly no problems should arise, but that it would replace broken straps free of charge. Newer consoles will include an 'enhanced' strap that wont break as easily.

More than two million Wii units have already been sold. Nintendo aims to double that figure before February 2007.
