Taking the step to a wireless internet connection having previously only owned a USB modem seemed like a very complex task. It turns out that it's actually very easy.
What You'll Need
Of course this isn't the only option for a wireless connection but it's the simplest. This will replace your old USB modem.
Examples
Netgear DG834G
Linksys WAG54G
Belkin ADSL Modem Router
Wireless Network Card
This is the device you will add to each computer to detect the signals from the router. These devices can be in the form of USB sticks or PCMCIA cards for laptops.
Examples
Netgear WG111 USB
Belkin PCMCIA Wireless Adapter
This is basically all there is to it. Once you have your new network set up you will see that it is worth it. Good luck.
