Yamaha R-100
The R-100 is an Echo/Reverb unit with 60 storage locations for user effects and MIDI control. The two digit LED display indicates everything that is going on and control is by means of simple push keys and a single rotary input level knob, the level of which is indicated on LEDs and clipping is shown.
There is one mono jack input and two left and right mono jack outputs and one MIDI in,on the rear side. The presets are indicated on the top of the unit as graphic legends as can be seen in the picture.
The overall sound is fantastic and it is amazing what effects you can get from this from only echo and reverb. Left and right stereo channels are treated independently from the MONO source and so you can stereo-ize a mono signal.
The 60 settings can be chosen under a MIDI program change command and 4 parameters for each setting can be stored.
Good points: The overall sound is impressive.MIDI control is always a plus. This thing is solid as a brick and was a pleasure to use. The user manual is downloadable from Yamaha - see my site [templarseries.atspace.com/synths.html] for more info.
Niggles: Perhaps the only drawback is because of the way a preset is chosen using up and down keys, rather than rotary selection,it can take some time to move from 1-60 - but this is not a problem under MIDI control.
