I bought a gibson from a seller in china,needless to say it was poorly finished with cheap hardware(not worth the 99p + £180 shipping)3 months later i went to shanghai on business to find huge shops with rows upon rows of 'gibson,gretsch,fender etc for sale, all fake,even mesa boogie lonestars for the equivalent of £150.In china things are slightly different ,they do not see any thing wrong with replicating items many chinese could not afford normally,obviously in this country we have copyright laws etc and these copies have come through the back door via ebay,if people ,including myself are vigilant and maybe a little less greedy/bargain hungry,scams are easy to spot.
