i am a keen collector and swapper of friendship books.  they are created with a friend in mind and his or her name and contact details are entered at the front of the book.  the book can be a little notelet made of a couple of sheets of paper or a more elaborate creation by someone who is a little more adverturous.  the book also has to bear the name of the creator so that the person for whom it was made knows the friend who started it off for them.

the book is then enclosed in any letter or swap which you pass on to another friend or swapper.  once it is full with other peoples name and contact details, it should be sent back to the person it was made for. the returner enters their details at the end of the book

in the end if you have a lot of friends or penpals or swappers you will make lots of contacts.  of course if you start a lot of books with your name in and make them for yourself and pass them round, eventually you will have a lot returned, if they stay in circulation.  i have had one returned which was made for me several years before.  i have made loads of friends and aquaintances this way and indeed have met up with a few of the people who i first knew only as a name in a friendship book (fb)!
