Laying systems fall in to a different area than backing to win, as a ex bookmaker and been on betfair since November 2000 laying seems far easier to win but beware its harder, it can lead you in to a false sense of this is easy, it is easy when you get it right but with laying horses you will also get it horribly wrong.
If you are new to racing then on paper laying is the quickest way to make money, many oridanary people just like you have thought this is easy only to lose all the money they have, this what happens, you can lay horses at say 3/1 on betfair so say you lay it for £10 if its gets beat you win £10 and if its a 15 horse race you have those other 14 runners that can win and any one of them 14 winning wins you that £10, you can achieve high strike rates which you need to make this method successfull but and this will happen to you one day you will have 3 lays at say 3/1, 4/1 and 5/1 and you will get all three wrong guaranteed that this in reality will happen, so now you are looking at a 12/1 loss and to your £10 stake a £120 loss, now you need the next 12 to win to get you your 12 you have just lost and the next day you will get another one wrong at say 3/1 so now thats 15 you have to get right just to get your money back, that is why laying is not suitable for most of you.
On paper its a licence to print money but in reality out of 100 that lay only 1 or 2 will be successfull, in fact on betfairs own figures only 10% of those who back on betfair win money over a year, so be very carefull and try it yourself just lay a few favourites for £2 and see how hard it is.
IT IS NOT A LICENCE TO PRINT MONEY AND MOST OF YOU WILL LOSE SO BEWARE
