Be careful when buying a secondhand wedding dress as it appears some people (you know who you are - Louise)will just lie and lie. I bought a forever yours dress which the uk seller emailed me further details which assured me the dress was a size 12 in perfect condition. When it arrived, i opened the box and the stench of cigarette smoke made me wretch. I unpacked it and the beads were hanging off, it also had many snags and pulls in the fabric, a cigarette burn and food stains! just to complete my disappointment the label clearly stated us 12 uk 16 so it was 2 sizes too big! when i complained to the seller they insisted they had checked the item before despatch and it was in perfect condition . They then told ebay i hadnt asked the correct questions yet i was able to forward the lying email stating"no marks, stains or snags and i didnt even eat whilst wearing it". What followed were multiple abusive threatening emails saying i must have sabotaged the dress, i had ripped them off for getting a £1000 dress for £150 (its £699 in most bridal shops i contacted) and they would report me to trading standards if i tried to get my money back!!!!! Clearly they were confused that i was the buyer not the seller and if anyone had been ripped off or needed trading standards it was me!! I tried to return the dress but more abuse followed. Cant begin to describe how many tears ive cried but luckily my wedding is still some months away so hopefully my paypal payment dispute will be resolved and i will be able to purchase a replacement.... My advise is to ask questions and save the emails, also to pay with your credit card through paypal so you have a chance of getting your money back if it goes wrong... Good luck to all those who like me have limited funds but hope to find their dream dress on ebay xxx
